We all love really good stuff! There's been a lot of it in the past, there's quite a bit of it about now, and you can be sure there's gonna be a whole lot more of it in the future! really-good.co.uk loves to reminisce about great things that were around in our past, and we love to talk about really good things that surround us in modern times. And ever so occasionally we might just have a look at really good stuff that's just around the corner.

NiGHTS into Dreams

NiGHTS into Dreams

nearly good OXXXXXXreally good

Really Good

-Unique playing style bit seen before, or since
-Once you have completed the game you feel the need to go back and try and score A on every level

Not So Good

-No way to play it at decent speeds on most modern consoles, even with emulation
-Bosses can be confusing and frustrating, completely contrasting the rest of the game
Summary

Not releasing a Sonic title for the Saturn was probably one of Sega's biggest marketing disasters (although there really are an awful lot to choose from!) It did, however free up Sonic Team to work on one of the most spectacular pieces of single player gaming history.

nearly good OXXXXXXreally good

Really Good

-Has that 'just one more go' factor
-Free

Not So Good

Summary

Another Amiga classic that got lost in the depths of time: Scrotax was one of the most bizzare, and indeed most addictive, shooting games I ever played.

One For All Universal Remote for DVD/Sky/Cable/TV/Hifi and PC

One For All Universal Remote for DVD/Sky/Cable/TV/Hifi and PC

Picture of One For All Universal Remote for DVD/Sky/Cable/TV/Hifi and PC
nearly good XOXXXXXXreally good

Really Good

-Works with every TV, DVD Player, Sky & Freview Box I tried it with

Not So Good

-The key codes output in PC mode are fixed - you will need to ensure the software you are using allows you to reconfigure the keys.
-The colour buttons don't output any key codes at all in PC mode
-Supplied software is a waste of time
Summary

Over the last few years I've tried a variety of universal remote controls and have found most of them wanting. Many didn't work with my TV, and those that did didn't seem to have enough buttons to be able to control my Sky box adequately. Recently I needed to invest in a remote control to manage the volume of my PC from a distance. During my search I came across the One For All USB/PC & Universal remote control. With an Amazon Christmas voucher needing using up, and for less then ten pounds delivered, I thought it had to be worth a go - though my previous experiences led to very low expectations to begin with.

portableapps.com

portableapps.com

Picture of portableapps.com
nearly good OXXXXXXreally good

Really Good

-Loads of apps to choose from
-Install on one pen drive, run on any computer
-All free software
-Carry a fully configured browser along with you, complete with all your bookmarks

Not So Good

-There are some, more specialist areas, that have little or no useful apps
-If we're going to be really picky, we could complain that the apps are Windows only
Summary

USB 'pen drives' have totally changed the way we can carry our documents and media around with us. For a few quid we can pick up a drive that will store hundreds of our important documents, or our favourite pictures or music and video files. Carrying our data around is brilliant, but there's no guarantee that the computer you're taking the drive to has the software to actually be able to view or manipulate the data. That's where Portable Apps comes in.

On the second day of Christmas, this really-good reviewer received: 2 Bags of Snow bites, manufactured by Cadburys

Really Good

-Good for a giggle

Not So Good

-Well the website could be a little prettier, I suppose!

Pretty it isn't, but this site is great for a giggle and a perfect way to waste the time of an organization that has really gotten your back up.
